Congratulations to our July 2026 Athlete of the Month, Ankitha Chandran!
Where were you in your fitness journey before BSC and where are you now?
I had been exercising consistently and staying active since 2017, though without a structured approach. BSC served as my introduction to lifting and strength training.
What were your goals when you started, and have you achieved any of them?
My goal was to feel stronger and commit to strength training at least three times a week. Ultimately, I want to achieve one strict pull-up—something my 7-year-old challenged me to do.
What about BSC makes you keep coming back?
One of the first things I noticed about BSC was the emphasis on being humble, highlighted on their mission wall. I also appreciate how each coach has a unique teaching style—ranging from humorous and bubbly to calm and zen—yet they are all approachable and consistently emphasize proper form and technique. BSC has built a supportive community that welcomes members from diverse backgrounds and training levels.
When/what was your "ah ha!" moment?
It may sound trivial, but one of my first big wins was being able to lift the 35-pound barbell off the rack without being wobbly :) I also clearly remember my first box jump and single under. Since then, I’ve grown more confident and less afraid to push myself further with every workout.
Does anyone at the gym (member or trainer) inspire you and why?
I truly believe anyone who shows up to the gym is inspiring. Life can get hectic, and we all have our excuses, but making the effort to show up for yourself is what really matters.
